Course Number and Title: BTC1710H – Biomaterials and Protein Chemistry Theory
Course Description: This course is designed to enable students to gain a more in-depth appreciation and understanding of the application of materials science and protein chemistry to the field of biotechnology. We delve into advanced drug delivery and therapeutic strategies, biomaterials in medicine, pharmacology and drug discovery. We also consider new disruptive technologies as case studies for life science biotechnology students.

Class Schedule: Specific dates to be determined in consultation with the MBiotech Program Office (NOTE: All courses at UofT Mississauga are expected to be delivered in person in Summer 2024)
Sessional Dates of Appointment: July 12th - August 28 th, 2024
Salary: $17,267.74 (includes 4% vacation pay)
Minimum Qualifications: Relevant recent research experience (MSc or Ph.D. level) and understanding of advanced molecular and cell biology, structural biology, and pharmacology. Knowledge of high-throughput screening methodologies and early implementation in the industry is also advantageous.
Description of Duties: All regular duties related to the design, teaching and delivery of a university credit course, including:
Coordinating student team presentations, meeting with each student team to guide/advise them on their presentations as needed, and holding office hours as required.
Marking/evaluating the BTC1710H student presentations and final examination; recording student attendance; registering and submitting grades; and communicating with students on course-related matters.
