Course description:

This course takes students from hypothesis testing to the application of testing means, chi-square tests, regression analysis and analysis of variance in Biology. Students will learn to choose an appropriate statistical test, independently analyze case studies with R software, and write empirical scientific reports. (0.5 FCE)

Prerequisites BIO259H5 or STA215H5 *STA215H5 will no longer be accepted as an appropriate prerequisite course AFTER 2022-2023 Academic year. Beginning 2023-2024 Academic year all students will be required to complete BIO259H5 as the statistics prerequisite course.

Effective January 1, 2023 - Sessional Lecturer I - $18,364.84 (Y, full course) & $9,182.42 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE) & $4,591.21 (0.25 FCE); Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $19,283.09 (Y, full course) & $9,641.55 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); Sessional Lecturer II - $19,653.91 (Y, full course) & $9,826.96 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $20,051.68 (Y, full course) & $10,025.84 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); Sessional Lecturer III - $20,121.86 (Y, full course) & $10,060.93 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE). Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $20,524.30 (Y, full course) & $10,262.15 (H, half Course, 0.5 FCE); All pay rates are inclusive of vacation pay.

Qualifications:The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Biology or related field. The decision on hiring will be based on previous teaching experience in this course or other similar courses, academic qualifications, ability, and suitability for the position.

Description of duties:Normal duties associated with teaching a university course, including preparation and delivery of course content, development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams, calculation and submission of grades, contact with students by regular office hours.  Completion of all grades (may include make-up exams).
