Job Description:

The Laboratory of Applied Informatics Research (LAIR) at the University of Toronto is expanding its research team and is actively seeking a highly motivated Research Assistants (RAs). LAIR focuses on large-scale cyber infrastructures for data, software, and autonomous intelligent agents (robots) to support collaborative, open, scalable, and distributed compute-intensive tasks in critical domains such as healthcare, advanced research, online education, and cultural preservation.

Key Responsibilities:

– Assist in research initiatives under the guidance of senior researchers.
– Support the development of information visualization and user interface design.
– Concentrate on areas such as ontologies, term clustering, and document searching.
– Collaborate on projects related to data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
– Contribute to novel graphical user interface design for interactive searching and browsing.
– Assist in research activities, including literature reviews, data collection, and report-writing.

Qualifications:

– Undergraduate degree in computer science, data science, information sciences, or a related field.
– Strong programming skills with proficiency in at least one programming language.
– Excellent organizational and communication skills.
