Job Summary
This position will prepare tools, equipment, materials and reagents for experiments and analysis of biological material.
Organizational Status
Works under direct supervision from the P.I.
Work Performed

Prepares tools, equipment, materials and reagents for experiments and analysis of biological material.

Carries out simple tests and measurements, specifically including, tissue cell culture, PCR reactions and histological preparation and analysis.

Assists with routine experimental analysis of samples with training and oversight provided.

Assists with tasks in data collection, sampling, identification and preparation.

Maintains research related records and databases, entering data according to established protocols in laboratory computers. Ability to use computer software as trained by lab staff.

Performs basic literature research, such as, searching for articles on-line or the library. Assists with monitoring and care of animals with appropriate training provided.

Cleans and performs basic maintenance of tools, equipment and apparatus. 

Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.

Consequence of Error/Judgement
Work may involve simple techniques and methods requiring knowledge and/or procedures that are readily acquired and used generally in repetitive or simple applications, requiring little judgment; the nature of work is routine and clearly defined; all problems are referred to supervisor.
Supervision Received
Works under direct supervision in accordance with detailed oral or written instructions; routine duties are carried out under general supervision.
Supervision Given
None but may explain work sequences to others.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation and a minimum one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
