About us:

The Office of Student Recruitment (OSR) under University Admissions & Outreach (UAO) in the Division of Strategic Enrolment Management is responsible for the strategic, university-wide approach to student recruitment to target and attract students to the University of Toronto. Working closely with academic divisions, OSR is responsible for regularly planning, implementing, assessing and revising a full spectrum of student recruitment initiatives.

Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, International Student Recruitment, the Recruitment Officer works closely with the recruitment team and other members of the office to develop and implement strategies and initiatives to assist the University of Toronto to achieve its undergraduate student recruitment objectives. The Recruitment Officer is responsible for positively representing the University of Toronto locally, nationally and internationally, in order to recruit well-qualified undergraduate students. The incumbent provides counselling and information services on behalf of all undergraduate divisions of the University to prospective undergraduate applicants, their parents, high schoolofficials and the public throughout Ontario, the rest of Canada, and internationally. The Recruitment Officer is involved with planning and co-ordination for events and programs, both on and off campus. This position requires a significant commitment to travel, with extensive periods away from home and overnight travel within the province of Ontario.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Fostering and maintaining a network of external contacts to support recruitment strategies
  • Delivering student recruitment presentations
  • Promoting programs at recruitment events
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Determining logistics required for virtual recruiting initiatives
  • Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
  • Analyzing service delivery and/or internal processes and recommending improvements
  • Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum four (4) years related experience in undergraduate student recruitment, preferably at the University of Toronto
  • Demonstrated excellent public speaking skills and experience
  • Excellent knowledge of University ofToronto programs and admission requirements
  • Knowledge of and experience with: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ROSI
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable – possessing sound judgement and common sense
  • Flexible with an ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • At all times demonstrates energy, enthusiasm for meeting new people and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service
  • Must be prepared to work outside normal office hours and to travel outside of the Toronto area; Must be comfortable traveling alone or with colleagues from other universities; Valid driver’s license and passport mandatory

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 12 -- $78,308 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $100,144. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
