Position 

This position will coordinate projects with the UABG team members and engage with University External Relations to collaboratively develop effective promotional strategies through design development as well as through enhanced web and social media presence. This position will collaborate with University of Alberta External Relations to develop brand appropriate visual materials utilizing design, photography and video to capture the mission and values of and promote the activities of the UABG. The position will collaborate with University of Alberta Brand Awareness to design an array of promotional materials including uniforms and gift shop merchandise. A primary role of the Coordinator is to liaise with and utilize External Relations to create a smooth and responsive approach to brand enhancement and UABG revenue generation activities.The Coordinator will work collaboratively with the various UABG Managers, UABG Team Leads, and Director to support the promotional needs of each unit within the context of UABG and the University of Alberta. This position will collaborate with the Creative Centre to design, produce, and print a variety of promotional materials.  This will support the creation, implementation, and maintenance of Program Guides, Annual Reports, pamphlets, brochures, UABG websites, posters, banners, videos, signage, social media ads, and presentations using digital media in conjunction with External Relations staff members. The Coordinator will also participate in promotions and implementation of other Garden activities and promotions as required.

Duties 

  • Develops and executes, from conception to production, a wide array of promotional materials (including but not limited to signage, posters, banners, brochures, program guides, annual reports, and presentations)utilizing a variety of print and digital media;
  • Coordinates photography, videography, and audio-visual support when necessary;
  • Drafts and/or generates routine internal and external communications. Gather information to draft emails, memos, and other documents for supervisor review;
  • Responsible for the ongoing stewardship of the UABG digital presence including websites, blogs, listing sites or other social media devices;
  • Liaise with External Relations to coordinate, implement, and monitor a consistent approach to brand enhancement activities, digital communications, online projects, and social media experiences;
  • Assist in the maintenance and monitoring of the UABG website.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post Secondary Education in Event/Project Management, Design, Media Arts, other related area;
  • Computer experience;
  • Excellent oral communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning, and time management skills;
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • IntelliLeisure knowledge an asset;
  • Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop knowledge an asset;
  • Experience with photography and videography an asset;
  • Experience and understanding of social media and website platforms an asset;
  • Experience and understanding of Google Suite an asset;
  • Project management experience is an asset;
  • Standard First Aid (within 3 years) and CPR C Certification (within 1 year) an asset.
