Student Experience also provides institutional support and leadership on large-scale assessment and projects that enrich the student experience. Units directly within Student Experience include, the Office of the CAO; Student Life IT; Student Life Communications; Student Crisis Response, Progress, & Support; Assessment & Analysis; Innovation Hub; and Strategic Initiatives.

Your opportunity:

Working under the general direction of the Executive Director, Student Experience and the Director, IT Strategy, Innovations, and Digital Transformation, the Project Manager, U of T Wayfinder will have oversight of Navi, the University of Toronto’s newly expanded U of T Wayfinder, which includes a strong focus on mental health and well-being. Currently, using IBM’s Watson Assistant technology, Navi uses natural language processing to understand questions it receives and provides accurate and relevant responses. The Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of Navi, as well as the growth and development of the tool. The incumbent will be responsible for planning and implementing project phases, which includes developing project timelines, developing and leading a robust communications and stakeholder plan, prioritizing feedback and working with campus subject matter experts to develop new content, and then using AI tools to implement and train content changes. The incumbent will work significantly with content owners and project leaders on the strategic vision and development of Navi and identify issues and roadblocks.

The Project Manager will review feedback and train the AI tool; develop reports to identify issues and prioritize strategic areas of growth; prioritize feedback and build and strengthen relationships with stakeholders to develop new content; develop project plans and critical paths to meet timelines; facilitate and present to small and large groups; via regular consultations with the team and leadership, use strategic foresight to provide recommendations on a long-term vision.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and implementing project phases
  • Developing or modifying project schedules to expedite and/or compress the critical path to meet timelines
  • Planning and implementing workflow for a group
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Reviewingand assessing requirements needed to meet project timelines
  • Informing project leaders of issues and roadblocks
  • Checking that assigned work completed meets expected standards

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum five years related experience managing large complex projects involving technology.
  • Computer skills required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated willingness to take initiative and ability to offer creative solutions in problem solving.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable with a high level of initiative and results orientation.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professional maturity, judgement, tact, diplomacy, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Research, analytical and reporting skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail, with a proactive solution focus.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 13 -- $83,150 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $106,336. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
