We are pleased to announce a Post-Doctoral Fellowship, starting in Spring 2024, tailored for an accomplished Economist eager to delve into the intriguing domain of Open Science Partnerships (OSPs). As the chosen Fellow, you will have the unique opportunity to lead and co-author research publications, while also developing innovative projects.
Position Highlights:
We invite applications for a post-doctoral fellow position at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, set to commence in May 2024. This role centers on spearheading economic and quantitative analyses within the framework of Open Science Partnerships, specifically exploring incentive mechanisms to advance drug development without relying on patents while fostering data sharing.
This full-time position offers a competitive salary, approximately $75,000 per annum, aligned with qualifications and experience. Comprehensive benefits are included throughout the fellowship.
Collaborate extensively with an inter-institutional, transdisciplinary research team led by Prof. Richard Gold (McGill Law), Prof. Jacqueline Sullivan (Rotman Institute of Philosophy, Western University), and Prof. Jonathan Kimmelman (McGill University).
This position requires demonstrated expertise in economics and quantitative methodologies, specifically in health innovation, health regulation, intellectual property, and finance. Proficiency in English is essential, as is the ability to work independently. Proficiency in French and experience with mixed-methods qualitative research would be advantageous.
Research Focus:
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our groundbreaking initiative, TRIDENT (Translational Initiative to DE-risk NeuroTherapeutics), a transformative preclinical platform supported by a $24 million grant from the Canadian Government. TRIDENT unites experts from diverse disciplines, including neurodegeneration models, clinical neurology, cognition, imaging, open science, science policy, ethics, law, and GBA+ studies. Together, we aim to expedite the evaluation of candidate molecules for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
Funding and Term:
Generously funded through the Government of Canada’s New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF), this position has a one-year term, starting in May 2024, with potential renewal up to 3 years, contingent on funding availability and performance. The role includes domestic and international travel.
