Primary Purpose:  Responsible for the provision of veterinary pharmacy services, teaching, and research functions within the policies and budget guidelines of the VMC and the college


Nature of Work:   Reporting to the Manager of Business, Finance and Support Services, this position is responsible for providing veterinary pharmaceutical services in a busy fast paced environment requiring attention to detail.  Normal hospital environment with frequent interruptions and noise; multi-tasking regularly; some potentially hazardous drugs and chemicals on the premises; cytotoxic drug handling, and some unpleasant odors.

Accountabilities:

 Provides excellent customer service, including dispensing, compounding, and providing drug information services to VMC clinicians, researchers, students, private practice veterinarians and clients.

Inventory management through computerized inventory system, including control of all pharmaceuticals, narcotics, and controlled drugs, maintaining stock supplies within VMC budget constraints.

Provides instruction in pharmaceutical laws and dispensing procedures for undergraduate vet students, pharmacy students, and veterinary technology students.

Assists with development and administration of policy and procedures to ensure efficient operation of the VMC Pharmacy.

Qualifications
Education:  Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy.  Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the province of Saskatchewan and meet yearly requirements for CE.

Experience:  Minimum of 5 years of experience in a veterinary hospital pharmacy or human retail and/or hospital pharmacy; extensive experience teaching and evaluating the work of others.

Salary:
The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $66,030.00 - 103,174.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
