ENVS 210: Environmental Perspectives
This course explores how different worldviews – comprised of beliefs, assumptions, values, attitudes, ideas – influence human relationships with the natural environment. This exploration includes an examination of the cultural, scientific, religious, philosophical, spiritual, and economic foundations that influence how individuals or societies perceive, interact with, and transform natural environments. The course is required by BA Environmental & Sustainability Studies students and is also a popular elective. Enrollments have averaged around 20 students. Preferred qualifications for this position are a Masters in Environmental Studies or related discipline or equivalent degree and demonstrated familiarity with humanistic perspectives on the environment. Consideration will be given to teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
