RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary

The training coordinator will oversee day-to-day operations, planning, implementation, and evaluation of postgraduate student training in clinical trials & regulatory affairs. This includes coordinating the existing program’s activities, adapting the program for expansion to new centres, maintaining the program materials and e-learning assets, and communications and developing marketing strategies to maximize outreach to students.

General Duties

1. Identify the learners (as graduate and postdoctoral trainees) specific needs
• Assesses the list of needs
• Prioritizes learners’ needs based on their profile and curriculum requirements
• Adapt the needs to the requirements

2. Curriculum development and implementation

• Plans and coordinates curricular components and activities for graduate students and postdocs as part of the program upon the recommendation of the stream working group. This includes: coordinating webinars, coordinating the creation of material, e-courses, group activities, and coordinating and building opportunities for onsite shadowing
• Collaborates with the S1-dedicated team (and cross-over to other streams) to develop, select and implement appropriate online content that supports course learning goals and objectives
• Guides toward creation, management & updates online courses/webinars content and assets on learning management system. Leads and participates in the content development where there is adequate expertise
• Plans, coordinates and implements day-to-day delivery of the training program
• In collaboration with the national and local team, as well as the CANTRAIN assigned personnel, evaluates programs and initiatives and conducts detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
• Develops toolboxes to guide mentorship and onsite shadowing with the stream team
• Manages the activities related to various training and educational programs from an elevated organization point-of-view, including supporting them in the start-up and maintenance of onsite mentorship and experiential learning or as hubs of training for the training program

3. Programme’s management

• Coordinates Stream 1 working team (CREs, PDDs...)
• Manages applications and admissions into the program,
• Promotes the programme, organizes informative sessions about the programme, is the direct contact for questions about the programme,
• Invites and is point of contact for mentors and learners, ensures smooth running of synchronous sessions in the programme,
• Participates to the expansion of the training program by conducting outreach to other academic centres,
• Develops, edits, and writes content for marketing and communications materials for outreach activities and website.
• Fosters cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders to support initiatives


Education / Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
Field of Study: : health sciences or research/ trial environment preferred

Work Experience: 3 years

• Experience organizing small or large professional or social in person or virtual events (particularly coordinating logistics, promotion, and communication),
• Experience with LMS technology platforms, adult-learning principles or instructional design an asset,
• Experience with technology platforms, including Zoom and various third-party event software programs (including LMS), Microsoft programs.


Required Skills

• Excellent French and English, spoken and written,
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
• Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision,

Additional information

Status: Temporary, full time
Pay Scale: $48,503.00 - $90,090.00. Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday
Work Site: 5252 De Maisonneuve
