Full/Part Time: 0.8 to 1.0 FTE (4 or 5 days per week)

The appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer.The successful applicant will primarily provide instruction to and oversight of students within the DMD curriculum focusing on clinical teaching, patient treatment and student clinical practice management. They will support and mentor 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year dental students as they experience the bulk of their clinical education in the UBC Integrated General Practice clinic and affiliated Community/Hospital clinical settings. This will be done in collaboration with the following individuals: Associate Dean Clinical Affairs, Associate Dean Academic, Director of DMD Curriculum, and other DMD Module Coordinators.

The successful applicant will be expected to work collaboratively with faculty members in the various educational divisions within the faculty as a clinical instructor, clinical supervisor, and module coordinator. The candidate will help establish a strong patient-centred and evidence-based clinical curriculum for general practice that supports didactic and clinical skills taught in the discipline-specific modules.

In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to participate in the academic life and teach/supervise learners in the Faculty of Dentistry. They will be expected to be an innovative clinical teacher who will integrate technologies and new approaches to learning into our curriculum. The successful individual should possess exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, be able to work effectively and contribute within a team environment, and maintain positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Preference will be given to an individual with current and active experience in instructing, coaching and mentoring students in clinical setting and those that operate from a solid understanding of patient care and dental practice.

Applicants must have a DDS/DMD degree and be licensed (or eligible) with the BC College of Oral Health Professiona. Applicants should have at least 3 years of clinical experience. Salary is subject to standards within the Faculty of Dentistry based on clinical teaching and oversight.
