Job Summary
The primary focus of this position will be providing support for the Bedaiwy research lab at BC Women’s Hospital in the context of data management.
Organizational Status
The laboratory assistant will be supervised by and report directly to the lab supervisor Dr. Mohamed Bedaiwy.
Work Performed
The laboratory assistant will be responsible for assisting in data entry and assisting other team members as needed.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
The aboratory assistant ensures protocols are adhered to. Unusual problems are referred to the Principal Investigator Dr. Bedaiwy.
Supervision Received
Work will be done under direct supervision of the lab supervisor, Dr. Bedaiwy.
Supervision Given
None.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own
- Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- Health sciences research experience preferred.
- Knowledge of research environment an asset.
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively use MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Adobe, Skype, SPSS and REDCap at an intermediate level.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
