The MacPhail School of Energy is the only energy school in Canada, and we are charting a new course with a focus on sustainable energy sources and practices. MacPhail School of Energy provides hands-on, industry-guided training in labs that mimic job site environments, giving students the skills needed to find a rewarding career in the energy sector.
The Opportunity
The MacPhail School of Energy is looking for Instructors to teach in our Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) Program. The program covers course topics that include: power systems, electrical design (industrial and commercial) and PLC automation and controls. Other areas covered include; electric circuit analysis and applications, digital electronics, control systems, SCADA networking, project management, machine and transformer applications. We are looking for a candidate with a core background in electrical power systems. 
This position is responsible for a broad range of duties and responsibilities designed to support and accomplish SAIT’s mission as an educational institution. These duties and responsibilities are fundamental to the success of the Instructor. 
The EET Instructor reports to the Academic Chair and requires flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of SAIT as it relates to the students in the Instructor’s service. 
The Role
    • Understand, apply and relate to students the essential facts, concepts, procedures and principles in the areas of expertise as designated by the curriculum
    • Review and deliver lecture material which includes handouts, in class assignments, lab work as necessary (lesson plans, evaluation tools)
    • Follow course outlines as necessary to meet learning objectives
    • Use a variety of instructional techniques to promote learning and personal development
    • Show personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning
    • Responsible for the delivery of Instruction in a respective, positive learning environment by being inclusive, consistent and communicate clear expectations
    • Manage the classroom (online or in person) or lab to the benefit of all learners
    • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to students
    • Evaluate student progress and facilitate student achievement
    • Entry of grades and final marks in accordance to timelines
    • Seek feedback from students and make appropriate adjustments
    • Review course material utilizing task-based methods of learning as required, and use a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to enhance the delivery of curriculum
    • Follow academic policies and procedures regarding copyright, attendance, academic dishonesty
    • Follow and reinforce lab safety polices and rules

Qualifications & Experience
    • Bachelor Degree in related area; a graduate degree is an asset
    • 5 years of relevant industry experience
    • Professional Engineer or qualification for registration with APEGGA is an asset
