The Opportunity
Within the School of Construction, the Wood Trades Team delivers training for students in Cabinetmaking Apprenticeship. This is made up of 4 years of Jobsite training and study. The technical training portions are eight weeks in length, running 5 times per year, and take place at SAIT Main Campus. 
*Please note this is a temporary salaried position eligible for benefits ending June 30, 2025
The Role
    • Prepare and present schedules, lesson plans, lectures, assignments, evaluations, and learning activities
    • Know, understand, apply and relate to students the essential facts, concepts, procedures and principles in areas of expertise designated by the curriculum, using a variety of instructional techniques, which promote learning and personal development
    • Prepare cabinetmaking shop materials for learners
    • Evaluate student progress and achievement
    • Maintain and develop relationships with academic colleagues
    • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners

Qualifications & Experience
    • The ideal candidate will possess an Alberta or Red Seal Journeyperson Certificate in Cabinetmaking
    • A minimum of five years’ experience in the field at the journeyperson level is expected
    • Teaching experience in a technical institute would be considered an asset
    • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

Knowledge & Skills
    • The ability to convey the conceptual and practical aspects of subjects to students, respecting their diverse backgrounds, experience and individual learning styles is also essential
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Salary range: $82,096 - $88,817
Position End Date: June 30, 2025
