DUTIES

The Learning Design and Innovations Department at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) invites applications for a tenure-track Coordinator, Educational Technologies, reporting to the departmental chair and the Director, Learning Technology and Innovation. This is a faculty position that includes professional role and service to the university, profession and/or community.

The Coordinator, Educational Technologies generally provides faculty support in using educational technologies for the development of curriculum and learning opportunities using best practices to advance institutional goals for teaching and learning excellence.

The successful candidate will communicate best practices and support professional development (through workshops and seminars) for incorporating or adapting emerging educational technologies (eg. Moodle, Open Educational Resources, blogs, etc.). They will also:

  • contribute to strategic planning for maintenance, upgrades, and data integrity of synchronous and asynchronous TRU educational technologies.
  • provide technical support for both faculty professional development and course delivery.
  • collaborate with TRU service units, assisting in the establishment, integration and alignment of blended and online learning solutions (e.g. documenting inputs on use, curriculum requirements for training programs, adapting elements of Universal Learning Design, and supporting means of addressing accessibility barriers in course delivery).
  • research and report on the use of emerging educational technologies to support and advance scholarly teaching and assessment of learning.

What TRU Offers

Instructional Support I faculty positions range from TS 1 though 12 with an upper limit at TS12 of $110,800. Placement on the Salary Scale is in accordance with the Collective Agreement between TRU and TRU Faculty Association (TRUFA) with initial placement based on education and experience. This position offers an annual Professional Development Allowance, participation in a Defined Benefit Pension Plan and 100% employer paid benefits, which includes extended health & dental, sick leave and short term and long-term disability.

 


QUALIFICATIONS

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Master's or PhD in related field (e.g. Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, Distance Education etc.), or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Two to four years' post-secondary experience, demonstrating effective presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding and expertise in curricular development and educational technologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise with accessible web practices and educational technologies (e.g. Moodle, Wordpress, others).
