The Opportunity
The School of Hospitality and Tourism (H&T) is hiring a Hospitality Internship Coordinator.  This position reports to the Associate Dean and will play a key role in supporting student and graduate success in the industry.  
The Internship Coordinator position provides support for students in completing their mandatory internship requirement in their Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Program of choice.  The successful incumbent will: communicate placement opportunities for our students; develop a strong relationship with prospect employers; advise students and industry members on employment resources and internship processes; disseminate employment related information both external and internally; and support the coordination of student and industry events throughout the academic year.    
This position requires a high level of professionalism, strong communication skills (verbal/non-verbal, 
language/interpersonal skills), organization and attention to detail, computer information literacy, 
records information management, data integrity auditing and a keen focus on providing excellent, 
serviced-focused interactions with students. The individual must be able to consistently communicate
with industry, students, team members and stakeholders to consolidate feedback. They must be a 
self-starter and take ownership of the required workflow to ensure timelines are met and processes are 
followed.

Our faculty and students operate The Highwood Kitchen + Bar, Tastemarket Canadian Kitchen; Culinary Campus International Market, 4Nines Diner and Destinations Travel Centre. We also create and execute several events and work hand-in-hand with industry to provide our students with highly relevant experience such as practicums, internships and class project work.
Student success is the bedrock of our success, and as such you will champion building connections between our students and industry to support them with their journey during and after their program.   
The Role
    • Program Support (50%)
    • Develop and maintain integrity of School processes and documentation for work-integrated learning components of programs. 
    • Manage the workflow of the pre-work-integrated learning requirement processes for timely, service focused approval of 
    • students into their work-integrated learning placements. 
    • Provide documentation related to work-integrated learning for all programs in the School of Hospitality and Tourism.
    • Support research undertaken by the School specific to Work-Integrated learning, including collecting survey data to help inform changes to internship program and work-integrated learning initiatives.
    • Ensure accuracy and integrity of student records as required.
    • Individual will need to develop a strong knowledge of programs to provide accurate information to current and potential students.

    •  Internal and External Communications (20%)
    • Key contact in the school for students, SAIT Career Advancement Services, and work-integrated learning stakeholders. 
    • Establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
    • Act as a point of contact through various communication platforms for students, staff, and faculty.
    • Timely, service-focused communication with applicants, students, staff, and partners.
    • Lead and Organize SAIT Industry nights and events that support connect students and Industry include H.I.R.E and industry networking events. 

    • Administrative Duties (20%)
    • Data entry into SAIT information technology systems; Microsoft Suite/Banner/Logiforms.
    • Organize, update, and maintain a tracking system for practicum contracts in collaboration with the Associate Dean to ensure all agreements are current.
    • Support the planning and organization of events for the school as needed.
    • Facilitate meetings for internal and external stakeholders as required.

    • Other Duties as Assigned (10%)

Qualifications & Experience
    • Minimum post-secondary diploma in related field (i.e. Hospitality Management; Business; Administration Management)
    • Minimum 3 years of related work experience 
    • Hospitality, student service and/or post-secondary experience is considered an asset
    • A combination of education and experience may be considered
    • Strong MS office and database management experience is required
    • Creativity and problem-solving skills are needed and a willingness to challenge assumptions and put forward ideas

Salary Range: $59,675.00 - $67,121.60
