The Department of Chemistry at the University of Victoria invites applications for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) position in Inorganic Materials and Polymers. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in coordination chemistry synthesis and reactivity, and/or inorganic polymers. This CRC recruitment is part of a broad strategy to take advantage of our current research infrastructure in the area established recently through the Canada 150 Research Chair program. The successful applicant will be nominated by the University for a Tier 2 CRC and, upon approval by the CRC Secretariat, will be offered a position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, with rank and tenure status determined after an assessment of accomplishments and experience. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2025.

The candidate's qualifications, experience and overall market demand will determine the final salary offer. The salary for this position includes a competitive range of $115,927 – 151,692. UVic is committed to offering an equitable and competitive salary, inclusive of a generous benefits package, eligible leaves and pension plan.

    Requirements

The successful candidate will be an emerging world-class scholar who has demonstrated exceptional research productivity and international recognition. The appointee will be expected to establish an independent, creative, innovative, high-impact, and externally funded research program complementary to the research activities at the University of Victoria. The successful candidate should have established national and international collaborations, including industrial partnerships. The appointee should have a strong track record of excellence in teaching and mentorship of a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, and demonstrated ability to manage a healthy research environment that integrates a diverse group of employees.
