Position Details
The Dhillon School of Business (DSB) Student Professional Development program is open and free to all Dhillon School of Business students in any year of their degree. This externally funded program works with local organizations to deliver free industry networking and speaker events, interactive workshops, online training, an annual conference, case competitions and more. This encompasses experiential learning beyond the classroom, experiential learning in the classroom, and DSB alumni and stakeholder engagement. The mission is to help students become career ready, expose them to current issues/ topics in business, build their network, and start their life long professional development journey.
Reporting to the DSB Manager of Community Partnerships and Student Engagement, this position will be a critical asset helping to execute on program plans and research. Day to day tasks include planning and coordination of events and workshops, communication with vendors, managing registration, and more.
Key objectives include:
  • Event coordination, event management and logistic bookings.
  • Helping to execute on identifying skills gaps that are not currently addressed in existing programming.
  • Providing learning opportunities for professional development inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Create opportunities for hands-on experiential and Work Integrated Learning (WIL).
  • Create awareness and discussion around emerging issues affecting organizations today.
  • Increasing student engagement.


  • Position Duties:

    • General event coordination and support
    • Working with the DSB Communications team to develop marketing and promotional assets specific to events/workshops
    • Managing MyExperience Transcript calendar updates and validations
    • Managing event logistics, vendors, partners and volunteers
    • Creating post event surveys and summary reports
    • Support in developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders/partners.
    • Participate in developing plans and frameworks for new professional development/community engagement activities

    The University of Lethbridge is undertaking a job classification review for Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) positions.  As such, the classification level currently assigned for this position may be adjusted as a result of this project.
    Position Qualifications
    The suitable candidate will have the following skills and characteristics:
    • Excellent communication, organizational and creative thinking skills.
    • The ability to work well independently.
    • Experience using software and tools for event management, registration, and hybrid event offerings.
    • Knowledge of event planning and implementation; experience developing and implementing promotion strategies.
    • Attention to detail and ability to multitask is imperative.
    • Experience using Qualtics survey software and Adobe is an asset
    • Management experience is preferred
    • Some evening work will be required for event support (dates known well in advance). Some travel may be required in the Lethbridge region, and potentially Calgary
    Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $3,741.00 - $4,163.00 monthly
    Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $3,741.00 - $4,584.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 7)
