Corporate Learning Consultant

Primary Purpose: The Corporate Learning Consultant (Corporate Consultant) is responsible to lead and execute the delivery of learning sessions for corporate clients and public professional development courses with the overall goal of fostering strong relationships with our industry partners. Within this role, the incumbent works to develop and/or augment customized curriculum to meet the needs of a broad set of learners, including corporate clients where detailed needs analysis is used to develop, plan, and deliver customized training solutions in support of the client’s strategic goals, mission, vision, and values.


The Corporate Consultant drives continuous quality improvement through the development of new products, supports strategic expansion into new markets, and continued engagement points for existing clients.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Executive Education, the Corporate Consultant is responsible for collaborating on the establishment of program learning objectives based on market and client requirements, participating in the review and selection of qualified faculty members and program facilitators, and working as a team member to ensure curricular continuity throughout an integrated educational program.

Nature of Work: The position involves a high level of energy and creativity, analytical thinking, problem solving, and excellent communications skills to effectively deliver on goals and advance the vision and mission of Executive Education and the Edwards School of Business.  The position operates in a fast-paced, high-volume, office with competing demands that require the ability to focus and work under pressure to tight time frames.

The Consultant works in an environment where there is regular change, shifting priorities, and frequent interruptions. The work requires an ability to balance competing deadlines and multiple tasks. The incumbent is expected to build effective professional working relationships within the department, across campus, and in the community. This position will be required to work irregular hours and travel as necessary to support program development and delivery. 

The Consultant will keep abreast of leading learning and development best practices, trends, and environmental challenges, and support clients by providing solutions which complement their strategic priorities and direction, are in alignment with values and principles, and are industry leading programs in the province. Given the nature of the job duties, the Consultant must largely work independently and is heavily relied on for their high level and diversity of expertise.

Typical Duties/Accountabilities:

Program Development and Support

  • Independently develops industry leading open-enrollment or custom educational programs that meet market or client requirements ensuring program curriculum and associated learning tools and resources follow best practices of adult learning.
  • Participates in the recruitment, selection, and review of program facilitators including faculty and external consultants. Provides train-the-trainer sessions for new facilitators to support onboarding and program quality control.
  • Initiates and provides appropriate leadership in program planning meetings.
  • Acts as a primary contact for faculty and external facilitators related to program curriculum to ensure deliverables are clear and quality standards of instruction are maintained.
  • Collaborates with faculty and facilitators on requirements related to program execution for newly-developed or redesigned programs.

Business Development

  • Consults with internal and external clients on needs assessment, learning objectives, and curriculum design of custom educational programs to ensure the effective delivery of programs and services.
  • Participates in the custom sales process as required including attending existing and perspective client meetings.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Education team, faculty members, facilitators, and clients in the collection and analysis of evaluation data that demonstrates the educational effectiveness of programs.
  • Interacts with custom Executive Education sales team and client organizations to assess opportunities for program redesign and/or further business.
  • Provides writing support and research for proposals, RFPs, agreements, and other key documents including but not limited to professional training manuals and materials for client engagement.

Public and Custom Program Delivery

  • Facilitates a variety of Executive Education open-enrollment public and custom programs for clients (corporate and public sector) covering a variety of leadership and business related topics. Provides back-up coverage as needed for faculty and external consultant program facilitators.
  • Provide managerial consulting and leadership coaching services to external clients which may include executive coaching, facilitation of 360 reviews, organizational climate reviews, change leadership support, and strategic planning.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provides out of office coverage for the Senior Director, Executive Education covering all related duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education

  • A master’s degree in education or a business/management/leadership related field is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience

  • A minimum of ten years of relevant professional experience in a business environment, including extensive leadership experience, as well as experience with talent management or employee learning and development are required. Experience working in both public and private sector organizations is a strong asset.
  • Completion of an International Coaching Federation recognized leadership coaching certification or actively working towards completion is required.

  • Must be able to work an irregular schedule, evenings or Saturdays as needed, additional hours during peak times, and travel as required.

Salary:
The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $83,468.00 - 139,027.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
