NAIT’s Department of Continuing Education is seeking Contract Instructors to teach Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and Medical First Responder (MFR) courses.  These contracts will provide instruction to students in upcoming EMR and MFR classes.  Contract Instructors must be flexible, resourceful, innovative and passionate about teaching adults of all ages and backgrounds. 

The term of these contracts will vary in length of time and duration and are negotiable.  Most delivery is in 4 hour blocks Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings between 5:30 to 10:15pm at NAIT’s main campus however some weekend contracts are also available.

 

Contract Instruction Deliverables:

  • Provide classroom and lab instruction in the following key areas:  Heart and Stroke Standard First Aid, BLS,  ITLS and related pre-hospital care courses
  • Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies than ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
  • Utilize appropriate educational technology for communications and presentations
  • Maintain professional ethical relationships with students and colleagues; respond professionally to student issues and concerns
  • Maintain student attendance and other documentation as required

 

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Exposure to practice setting safety requirements
  • Excellent classroom management and instructional skills
  • Previous experience delivering adult students preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • ITLS certification or interest to pursue considered an asset

 

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from a recognized PCP or ACP program, or other recognized registered health care professional, plus previous Emergency/EMS/ Prehospital field experience
  • Instructor must have instructional qualification for relevant certification (e.g. CPR/First Aid, ITLS)
  • Instructor certification in ITLS is desirable
