Continuous Improvement Consultant

Primary Purpose: The Continuous Improvement Consultant is accountable for supporting process improvement activities that drive high performance and support the implementation and delivery of enhanced customer services from ConnectionPoint to faculty and staff at the University of Saskatchewan. The Continuous Improvement Consultant will support activities that engage staff in focused design elements, including case for change, future state vision, current state/leverage and barrier points, process enhancement work assessment, and redesign of business processes.


Nature of Work: Reporting to the Manager, Process Effectiveness, the Continuous Improvement Consultant is an experienced, partner-focused professional who leads projects and activities that drive high performance and expand the administrative service capabilities of ConnectionPoint. This position maintains professional working relationships with a diverse group, including faculty, students, staff, and other stakeholders. Independent task management is key as this is a complex, fast-paced environment with competing demands and strict deadlines. Critical thinking is required to provide prompt, complete, accurate service that anticipates our partners' needs.

Typical Duties or Accountabilities:

  • Design and offer stakeholder facilitation engagements to advise on continuous improvement services and associated processes.
  • Facilitate process mapping activities for current and future state processes with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Analyze current state environment, identify improvement opportunities and efficiencies, and make recommendations for implementation to streamline and enhance services.
  • Effectively communicate process enhancement goals, scope and expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to understand current realities, design future state, build commitment and ensure project plans incorporate important perspectives.
  • Prepare and summarize critical information and outputs from improvement events.
  • Liaise with staff, management, and stakeholders to assist in implementation of necessary service and process improvements.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing strategies and priorities aimed at improving operations and services that enhance the campus partner experience and operational effectiveness.
  • Work effectively with other offices (Functional Central Office (FCO), Strategic Business Analysts (SBAs), Colleges/Units).
  • Reduce risk by remaining current with and adhering to university policies, guidelines and processes, collective agreements and relevant legislation.

Education: Completion of a relevant post-secondary degree or program. An equivalent combination of applicable education and experience will be considered for this position.

Experience: Relevant experience in business analysis, continuous improvement, and other process improvement methodologies. Experience in overseeing the design, implementation and operation of software and hardware solutions, systems, products, standards, and methodologies. Proven ability to administer group facilitation programs, use data to make decisions, analyze results, and turn recommendations into action. Experience working in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency with information systems, programs, spreadsheets and databases (e.g. JIRA, SharePoint Online and Microsoft Office including Power Automate and Power BI).
  • Understanding and working knowledge of business process automation. 
  •  Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with changing priorities.
  • Ability to prepare and present complex issues and recommendations in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions.

Salary:
The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $66,030.00 - 103,174.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
