NOTE: This is a temporary position commencing on August 19, 2024, and ending on or before June 30, 2025, with the possibility of extension.
As part of NAIT’s mission to be the most relevant and responsive post-secondary institution in Canada, the School of Health and Life Sciences aims to drive the evolution of health care education in Alberta. A great program needs great instructors, and the NAIT Combined Laboratory and X Ray Technology program is now recruiting a temporary, full-time instructor to join their team at the Edmonton campus. Candidates for this position should be energetic leaders of students, have well developed communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, be committed to student motivation and achievement, work independently within established policies, be dedicated to a service model, be adaptable and work cooperatively as a team member.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in the classroom and lab settings
- Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
- Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
- Evaluate the learning process
- Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
- Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
- Respond to student issues
- Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, patients and colleagues
- Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
- Actively participate in NAIT’s Strategic and Academic Plan as identified by the institute
- Some evening and/or weekend hours for lab instruction and other educational events may be required in certain semesters
- Clinical liaison duties:
- Conduct site visits to clinical partner sites (virtual and on site)
- Monitor and evaluate student progress during clinical
- Provide preceptor support
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- A Diploma in Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technology from a recognized post-secondary institute
- A related Bachelor’s degree (in health sciences, or science, preferred) and 2-5 years of recent, relevant clinical experience as a CLXT. Experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
- Current, active registration with ACCLXT
- Computer skills are essential
- Experience in delivery of adult education and/or preceptorship for students is desirable
- Immunizations’ status and police information checks, as required by the program, will be requested
- Annual certification in BLS for HCP is required
Remuneration: $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually based on education and experience, plus 18.5% in lieu of annual vacation and statutory holidays. (Classification – Instructor).
This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
