The JR Shaw School of Business is recruiting casual instructors committed to instructional excellence, student success, and program advancement. The school is recruiting instructors for various programs and courses, including:

  • Marketing
  • Communications
  • Management
  • Organizational Behaviour
  • Mathematics
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Economics 
  • Statistics 
  • Computer Management Information Systems 


We are prioritizing Spring/Summer face-to-face daytime on-campus deliveries, though other modalities and terms will be considered.

 

Reporting to the Program Chair, the instructor is an academic position. The successful candidate will possess expert skill and knowledge in a particular field as well as currency of practice in that field. NAIT provides exceptional support for those new to instruction, however, prior experience in teaching and learning may be an asset. Instructional excellence is essential to the achievement of NAIT’s mission and the fulfillment of our Promises to Alberta, Industry, Students and Staff. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct assigned courses using case-based learning, problem-based learning, technology supported learning as well as other instructional and assessment strategies. 
  • Provide qualitative and quantitative feedback to students on a variety of authentic assessments. 
  • Inspire students to become business and community leaders.  
  • Leverage industry expertise to develop and deliver curriculum as part of a subject area team.  
  • Follow and adhere to NAIT policies, procedures and academic regulations. 
  • Complete Safety Orientation Online Course; Cyber Security Training; Respect at NAIT; and Emergency Warden Training.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrate a desire to contribute to NAIT and the JR Shaw School of Business. 
  • Excellent instructional skills with a commitment to teaching undergraduate students through a variety of delivery modes. 
  • Passion for teaching and dedication to student engagement and success. 
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal, organizational and classroom management skills. 
  • Collaborative team player  
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and various learning management tools.  
  • Dedicated to life-long learning and NAIT’s Values. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Related Doctoral or Master’s degree with considerable related industry experience is required.
  • A combination of academic credentials and discipline-specific professional certifications will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in delivering course material such as COMM 1101, ACCT 1115, CMIS 1101, ECON 1110, MARK 1130, MATH 1180, ORGB 1135, MGMT 1120, and HRMT 1101
  • Previous instruction and/or curriculum development experience may be an asset. 

 

Remuneration: $99/ scheduled instructional hour – (Classification: Instructor A)

This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
