Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Media Support Services, the Audio Visual Technician provides day-to-day operational services which include support, guidance and technical training to staff, faculty and students in the use of audio visual equipment and technology systems in all learning spaces on campus.

The Audio Visual Technician provides external clients with technical service, support, consultation, and hands-on training when required, using RRU facilities and front-line technical service and support of audio visual equipment for various high-profile internal and external RRU events.

The Audio Visual Technician provides ongoing operational services, including audio-visual equipment and technology systems maintenance, upgrades and inventory.


Job Requirements
  • Diploma in cross-disciplinary multi-media, audio visual technologies and processes
  • Minimum two years of experience preferably in an institutional setting and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the use of a wide variety of professional audio and video equipment, software and processes.
  • Technical experience with managing high profile events (Convocation ceremonies, special holiday events (Remembrance Day, NIPD), Guest speakers on campus, etc.
  • The ability to provide effective instruction, guidance and training in the use of audio visual equipment to faculty, staff and students.
  • Strong customer service skills. Uses effective means of communication as a front-line contact, providing assistance and support via phone, e-mail, Teams or in person, for internal and external clients.
  • Must have a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite products (Audio Audition or equivalent), and other professional production and presentation software.
  • Strong organizational skills including scheduling, problem solving and project planning.
  • Competency on both PC and Mac platforms is required.

  • Interpersonal skills to identify, troubleshoot and solve immediate or long-term client problems/issues.

  • Organizational skills to work independently under tight deadlines and pressure while managing multiple tasks.

Additional Information
This is a regular, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week from Wednesday to Sunday. This position has been evaluated at ADM-C with a salary range of $55,202 (minimum) to $64,846 (midpoint) to $74,490 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
