Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Program Services and Student Life, the Associate Director, Program Services is responsible for the development and delivery of services supporting students and instructors in the Professional MBA and Specialized Programs and for ensuring strong relationships among staff, students, faculty and the general university community.

The Associate Director is responsible for both student and academic services for the Professional MBA and Specialized Programs and contributes to the leadership of the Program Services Office overall, through activities such as strategic planning, program and event development, feedback sessions and communications. With senior responsibility for liaising with students and instructors,the incumbent focuses on the integration of the Rotman School of Management’s academic mission with the services provided by the Program Services Office. They ensure student engagement in appropriate Program Services policy and process decisions, measuring and advocating the effectiveness of services provided to students. The incumbent represents the department on various student committees and councils where appropriate

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Planning and developing educational programs and courses independently
  • Planning and developing an integrated multi-channel communications strategy independently
  • Analyzing internal and external trends and recommending educational programming improvements
  • Implementing program improvements and maintenance of program standards
  • Advising students on program and/or course requirements by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
  • Providing proactive support to individuals in distress and making referrals to specific university services

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Six to seven years, preferably in a University setting in the areas of program administration
  • Experience in the administration and interpretation of graduate and other academic policies and procedures is required
  • Experience and sound knowledge of best practices in advising and student services.
  • Experience conceptualizing, organizing and planning events and outreach activities
  • Experience implementing program improvements and maintenance of program standard
  • Must be conversant with issues related to student recruitment, retention, enrolment management and university life
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service
  • Superior skills as a presenter, facilitator and communicator with the ability to effectively facilitate discussions to achieve appropriate outcomes
  • Ability to show sound judgement in dealing with confidential information and a keen sensitivity to the personal nature of student issues
  • Demonstrated time-management and organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task and meet tight deadlines while paying close attention to detail.
  • Must be a strong communicator with demonstrated strong verbal, written and listening skills
  • Ability to exercise reliable and sound judgment; strong decision-making skills; use tact and discretion in interaction
  • Advanced skills withMS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Advanced skills with ROSI/ACORN, Degree Explorer, or other similar systems.
  • Able to work well independently and as part of a team


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience working with an advising international students and students from diverse backgrounds
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with the programs, policies, and procedures of Rotman School of Management

USW Pay Band 16 -- $99,548 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $127,305. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
