Position Description:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at McGill University invites applications to fill one full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position. This position is supported by McGill University’s Action Plan to Address Anti-Black Racism . Inspired by global social and political mobilization against systemic racism, the Plan has made commitments to increase the University’s complement of Black tenure-track and tenured professors.

Job Duties:

Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses based on departmental needs, advising M.Sc. and Ph.D. students, and providing service to the department, Faculty of Engineering and the University as well as to the profession. The ability to develop and sustain a level of teaching performance and research productivity commensurate with the University’s expectations for tenure is required. Faculty members in the department are expected to develop and maintain an externally funded research program of international distinction.


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Candidates for the position must display a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. A Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or an allied field is required by the time of the appointment or shortly thereafter. Potential research areas include, but are not limited to, energy and environment, robotics and artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering, advanced materials and aerospace engineering. Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association is required.
