Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Director, Intercollegiate and High Performance Sport, the incumbent is responsible for assisting in the development, direction and implementation of comprehensive sport and student-athlete support programs with an emphasis on an educational and athlete-centred approach within the Faculty’s intercollegiate program. As a member of the athletics management team and the event management team, the incumbent helps to position University of Toronto’s intercollegiate teams at the necessary competitive level to achieve provincial and national prominence. In conjunction with the Manager, Intercollegiate Sport, the incumbent plays a pivotal role in servicing University of Toronto student-athletes to ensure the development of the whole student-athlete.

Your responsibilities willinclude:

  • Advising students on co-curricular, academic and personal matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
  • Advocating on behalf of students with internal and external contacts/agencies
  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
  • Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in physical education or sport administration or acceptable combination of equivalent experience with relevant certifications.
  • Minimum four years related experience, preferably in a University environment.
  • Experience using the University's Student Information System (ACORN) or a similar information management system.
  • Sound understanding of intercollegiate eligibility and compliance policies, procedures and operations, especially related to Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and USPORTS.
  • Experience supervising and motivating staff.
  • Experience developing, coordinating and leading workshops and training sessions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; a creative thinker, problem solver and an ability to work in a team environment. Strong computer competencies with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self starter, strong organizational and time management skills; ability to exercise sound judgment; strong interpersonal skills in a position that requires tact, discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with people at all levels (students, staff, coaches, senior administration, faculty, alumni, media, community, business leaders)
  • Ability to communicate information to student-athletes and coaches with attention to detail and accuracy regarding student-athlete and award eligibility rules, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to balance the competing demands of routine work with the special requirements of projects; ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy as well as maintain a broad perspective of the organization.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and problem solving skills;
  • Commitment to the Faculty’s mission and values and an understanding and commitment to diversity and equity issues.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methodologies for evaluation, and understanding of adult learning styles and educational theory around learning outcomes an asset.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 13 -- $83,150 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $106,336. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
