Assistant Lecturer - Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science

The Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science invites applications for a full-time, one-year Academic Teaching Staff position. The teaching load is commensurate with guidelines set out in the ATS agreement . The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching 7 courses per academic year.

This appointment requires a minimum of a Masters degree in a Food Science discipline or equivalent, with a PhD degree an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience, especially teaching food science courses. Experience with practicums, capstone courses, practical laboratories, and research-oriented projects will be an asset.

The appointee should have a demonstrated ability to employ varied teaching strategies and approaches in classroom and practical settings, experience with web-based Learning Management Systems (e.g moodle, eClass) and experience with differential teaching formats including in-classroom, remote learning, online learning, and hybrid teaching is an Asset.

The appointee will be expected to contribute to teaching of courses including but not limited to:

  • NU FS 100 – Introduction to Food Science and Technology
  • NU FS 250 – Applied Food Theory
  • NU FS 312/AFNS 512 – Quality Assurance
  • NU FS 361/363 – Food Microbiology
  • WKEXP 986 - Food Science and Technology Work Experience
  • WKEXP 989 – Graduate Work Experience

This is a one-year contract ATS position with the potential for renewal. Salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with the Academic Teaching Staff (ATS) agreement .
