The McGill University Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery invites applications for a full-time position as member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical) in the subspecialty field of neuro-critical care.  The professorial rank will be according to the candidate’s qualifications and experience. This will be a three-year, renewable appointment and does not confer eligibility for tenure.
The candidate will be appointed to clinical practice at the Montreal Neurological Hospital (the Neuro), within the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC).
The McGill University Health Centre includes major McGill University-affiliated teaching hospitals at several sites in downtown Montreal. Neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuroradiologists, and interventional neuroradiologists provide tertiary in-patient and out-patient care, engage in a wide range of clinical and basic neuroscience research, and lead strong clinical neuroscience teaching programs in undergraduate and postgraduate medicine.

The Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery is part of McGill, Canada’s most international university, which is located in vibrant, multicultural Montreal, in the francophone province of Quebec. Job Duties

The successful candidate will contribute to a strong interdisciplinary clinical and/or research program in neuro-critical care at McGill University.
The successful applicant will be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (teaching, research, supervision of graduate students, and involvement in academic and administrative committees). They will provide excellent clinical teaching and supervision to diverse residents and medical students, and are expected to pursue scholarly activities in advancing clinical care in neuro-critical care.

McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community. A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is also expected.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Applicants must hold or be eligible for licensure as a neurologist in the province of Quebec;
• Applicants must have advanced training and the demonstrated capacity to excel in academic neurology, including specialized clinical expertise in neuro-critical care, strong medical education skills, and/or a well-defined clinical research program;
• Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all areas;
• Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families and health care professionals.
