Hiring Unit:
Department of Biology (Professor Simon Reader)
Position Summary:

Primary responsibility is care of live freshwater fish in the Reader Lab of McGill's Biology department (https://www.mcgill.ca/reader-lab/ );

  • Feeding, cleaning tanks, water testing and any other tasks;
  • Other duties may include assistance with studies of social behaviour (behavioural observations and experiments, coding of videos, data entry, etc.) and behavioural neuroscience (histology, sample preparation, etc.) and other similar duties.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Schedule is flexible but fish care must be conducted in the daytime;
  • Must enjoy working with live animals and have an interest in animal behaviour;
  • Must be organized, reliable, independent person with close attention to detail;
  • Available to work on weekdays and weekends.
  • Training will be provided in fish care.

Experience and education:

  •  Academic background in biology, neuroscience, and/or psychology preferred, thus position is open to McGill Faculty of Science students only. 
  • Must be approved in the Work Study Program at McGill University.
