The School of Health and Public Safety at SAIT prepares students for a dynamic career in the health care sector. We offer specialized training in diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, professional assistant programs, information management, and training for wellness professionals. Our programs are hands on, with students and instructors immersed in living classrooms and simulated training. 
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Associate Dean Health and Public Safety, the Academic Chair Clinical Support Services is responsible for leading the Clinical Support Services portfolio of programs Medical Laboratory Assistant, Medical Laboratory Technology and Medical Device Reprocessing Technician staff members and resources associated with the programs. 
This role will lead program quality initiatives and continued enrollment growth that will continue to contribute to the advancement of SAIT’s reputation as a leader in advanced technologies through applied and work-integrated learning opportunities.
The Academic Chair will oversee the implementation of strategic programing direction, identification and development of curriculum, course delivery operations, and evidence-based continuous improvement of the program. In support of program success, the Academic Chair will foster relationships with industry partners, faculty, and internal SAIT stakeholders to ensure relevant curriculum in support of student and graduate success towards SAIT’s reputation as the premiere educational institution in Alberta.
The Academic Chair will also collaborate and contribute to the school and institutional initiatives connected to SAIT’s Strategic Plan and Education Plan, in the areas of student success, employee engagement, and innovation in applied education and partnerships.  This is a full time role.
The Role
    • Ensure student success through recruitment, retention and fostering a culture of learning and success. 
    • Enhance program Key Performance Indicators as it relates to student satisfaction and graduate employment rates  
    • Attract, recruit, engage and retain the best faculty talent to deliver curriculum through a variety of learning modalities  
    • Ensure academic excellence (teaching, scholarly activity, pedagogy knowledge, academic support) through coaching, mentoring, and developing instructors 
    • Provide exceptional leadership to faculty and staff that includes setting meaningful objectives, monitoring progress, and providing feedback and coaching to ensure success 
    • Develop and maintain a respectful workplace by building an engaged team environment
    • Ensure programs and courses are high quality through continuous quality improvement working with a variety of stakeholders to gather, analyze and action feedback. 
    • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with external stakeholders to ensure program quality, grow WIL opportunities and represent the SAIT brand.  
    • Effectively collaborate and build relationships within CSS portfolio, other schools and across the organization to leverage all resources 
    • Manage portfolio in a fiscally responsible manner and ensure financial results are accurately reported, including ensuring accuracy of budgets and forecasts  

Qualifications & Experience
    • Minimum of an undergraduate degree and diploma in allied health or related health care field.  Graduate degree in management, education or health is ideal.  A combination of education and experience may be considered
    • Minimum of five years’ experience in relevant field. Knowledge and experience as a healthcare or medical professional is critical to the position
    • Minimum of three years managerial experience in health or business environment
    • Preference will be given to applicants with experience in leading/teaching or curriculum design at a post-secondary level
    • Experience in health discipline similar to programming in the portfolio
    • Effective communicator to support teams and people through change initiatives 
    • Demonstrate good understanding of quality assurance and control in Education.
    • Financial and business acumen with experience leading change in a large organization
    • Ability to effectively coach and support employees
    • Ability to positively influence and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders (partnership)
    • Project management experience and organizational skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and written

Salary range: $120,098.48
Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
