DUTIES

RESPONSIBILITIES

Thompson Rivers University is seeking a sessional faculty member who will teach one section of EDTE4050 Electricity and Electronics 2 and its associated lab.

Students build on the knowledge and skills learned in EDTE 3050: Electricity and Electronics 2. In addition to safety, processes, and procedures, instructional techniques suitable for teaching grade 8 to 10 secondary school classes are included. Students complete the exercises and projects from the perspective of a learner, and from their role as a future teacher.

Classes are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for three weeks at four hours and 20 minutes per class. The associated laboratory is Wednesday and Friday for three weeks. Each laboratory is 4 hours and 40 minutes, from 2:30 until 6:50 p.m. 


QUALIFICATIONS
  • A bachelor’s degree in education is required.
  • A minimum of one (1) degree in education is required.
  • Three (3) years of full time or equivalent hours teaching in K-12 settings is required;
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles of trade and technology education is required;
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level is preferred; 
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills required; 
  • Demonstrated experience in integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) is required.
  • Proven skills in building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) is required.
  • Teaching excellence, including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) is required.
