Offer Description
The São Carlos School of Engineering of University of São Paulo (EESC-USP), in collaboration with Aeronautics Laboratory from University of Campinas (Unicamp) and Computational Fluid Dynamics Laboratory from Fluminense Federal University (UFF), is seeking a qualified researcher for a postdoctoral position on topic: Direct numerical simulations of supercritical fluids, related to a Thematic Project sponsored by FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation), entitled: Study of Transport Phenomena Applied to Emerging Technologies of Energy Conversion and Storage, coordinated by Professor Luben Cabezas Gómez, from EESC-USP.
In this project, we will combine high fidelity simulations and linear stability analysis techniques to study how the thermodynamic state affects the early stages of the laminar turbulent transition as it approaches the critical point in canonical problems involving natural and mixed convection as well as boundary and mixing layers.
We are looking for motivated candidates with expertise in computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer, and linear stability techniques. The candidate is expected to present a list of publications in relevant journals and conferences associated with at least one of the aforementioned topics, and to have a PhD degree or be close to acquiring one in either mechanical or aerospace engineering, as well as related fields.
The project will have a duration of 36 months. The candidate will work in-person in a very active research group, with the necessary infrastructure for high-performance computing. The candidate must send a CV with their list of publications in journals and conferences, in addition to their background in the areas of the project, to ([email protected] ).
The registration deadline of applications will end on April 15th, 2024. The FAPESP scholarship value for PD position is R$ 9.047,40 per month. More information about the scholarship can be found in: https://fapesp.br/oportunidades/6774/ and www.fapesp.br/bolsas/pd .
