YOUR TASKS

 

  • At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research.
  • You conduct research in the Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics (AIDA) research group under the supervision of prof. Tijl De Bie on the use of AI methods for job market analysis, prediction, and policy.
  • A particular focus of your work is on “The activation of inactive people: studying thresholds and breakthroughs using AI techniques”, a senior research project funded by the Flemish Research Foundation (FWO). This project studies the barriers that prevent the employment of inactive persons, i.e. those who are neither working nor looking for work, by combining the research tradition from labour economics on barriers on the employee and employer side and the research tradition from data science on matching both sides through artificial intelligence.
  • You mentor Master and PhD students in the AIDA research group on related research topics.
  • You publish your research in international workshops, conferences, and journals.
  • You help with the organization of workshops, lecture series, and dissemination of your research to the broader public.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

  • You hold a thesis-based doctorate in computer science, machine learning, or related fields (obtained max. 6 years ago. This term of 6 years is determined by the date written on the above-mentioned required diploma).
  • You have extensive experience with AI applications in the job market and public employment services.
  • You enjoy and have experience with multidisciplinary research, in particular in relation to social science and economics.
  • You have a proven academic track record with publications in prestigious machine learning conferences and journals.
  • You have experience in mentoring and educating students.
  • You are proficient in writing and speaking in English (C1 level).

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

 

  • We offer you a contract of indefinite duration with a maximum term of 3 years.
  • Your contract will start on 1/05/2024 at the earliest.
