Offer Description

The Astroparticle and Neutrino physics group of the University of Louvain (UCLouvain, Belgium), hosted at the Centre for Cosmology, Particle Physics and Phenomenology (CP3 ) in the Research Institute in Mathematics and Physics (IRMP ), is welcoming applications for a Postdoctoral researcher position in neutrino physics.

The IRMP physicists of UCLouvain conduct research in fundamental interactions and cosmology on the experimental and theoretical fronts. More than 100 physicists and mathematicians from all over the world currently work at the IRMP. The UCLouvain Astroparticle and Neutrino physics group focuses on neutrino and multi-messenger astronomy and it now aims at enlarging its physics scope to include neutrino physics. The group is part of the IceCube  and KM3NeT  collaborations.

The selected candidate is expected to take a leading role in neutrino oscillation studies and contribute to start this research direction at UCLouvain with prof V. Lemaître. The project will provide them a good visibility within the KM3NeT Collaboration and the neutrino community in general. A strong collaboration with the astroparticle part of the group is planned.

The appointment is initially available for three years. Computing resources and support for travelling are excellent and the working environment will be stimulating and allow for personal growth. A special care to well-being and career management will be provided throughout the contract. The selected candidate is expected to start early 2024. Applications from women and minorities are especially encouraged and priority will be given to applicants from underrepresented groups in case of equal qualifications.

Applications, which must include a curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests and motivation (max. 2 pages), and at least three recommendation letters from senior scientists, should be submitted online, by February 10th, 2024. Applicants should hold a PhD Degree in physics and demonstrate a strong interest in particle physics. Experience with data science tools will be considered as a strong asset. The position will remain open after this first deadline until a suitable candidate is found.
