YOUR TASKS

 

  • You spend a minimum of 70% of your assignment on academic research on consumer behavior in general and consumer wellbeing in particular. You also support the development of the BE4LIFE research centre . In this context, you elaborate project applications for research projects at the FWO, BOF, HORIZON and/or other financing channels and you actively search for cooperation and financing opportunities to valorize academic research. You take a leading and coordinating role in this.
  • You spend part of your assignment to (supporting) education at Bachelor's and/or Master's level. You supervise and take co-responsibility for research methodology courses and/or marketing courses. You contribute to the digitalisation and flexibility of teaching tasks. You supervise Master's students in Business Engineering, Applied Economics and/or Business Economics in teaching assignments and Master's theses.
  • You are jointly responsible for the provision of services to and expansion of the Consumer Behavior research group. For example, you give seminars to PhD students, you help develop the consumer lab and you help supervise PhD students. The specific tasks will be determined in consultation with the academic staff.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

  • You hold a PhD in Applied Economics or a PhD in another discipline but with proven research experience in marketing. For degrees obtained outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence from NARIC must be submitted. The diploma requirements must be met on the start date.
  • You have already done research in line with the consumer behavior research line.
  • You have distinguished yourself as a promising researcher during your doctoral work.
  • You have a keen interest in student counselling in academic training.
  • You have relevant scientific publications in international scientific journals that have a wide circulation and call on experts for the review of submitted manuscripts. Publications in the research domain are a must, as are publications listed in Web of Science.
  • You have a promising research pipeline (e.g. publications in review at high-level scientific journals).
  • International research experience is highly recommended.
  • You speak and write excellent English and Dutch (in the context of teaching assignment).
  • You have experience in supervising large groups of students.
  • You have experience in supervising master's theses.
  • You have experience with experimental consumer research and advanced quantitative research techniques. Experience with SPSS syntax and basic knowledge of R is recommended.

  • We offer you a part-time (80%) and temporary appointment for a period of 3 years. The appointment cannot be renewed
  • Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to 3 years, you can apply. The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term
  • Your appointment will start on 1 September 2024 at the earliest
  • Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP5. More information about our salary scales
