We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Biophysics Expert to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing molecular biophysical research using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques.


Main activities and responsibilities
  • Molecular Biophysical Research: Conduct experiments utilizing molecular biophysical techniques and instruments to measure protein folding, conformation, stability, and interactions between proteins, DNA, and other biomolecules.
  • Training and Consultation: Provide expertise, training, and consultation to research groups within and outside the Center. Collaborate with users to develop and optimize experimental designs, ensuring the successful implementation of molecular biophysical assays.
  • Equipment Management: Oversee and maintain state-of-the-art equipment at the Molecular Biophysics platform. Ensure proper calibration, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with technical staff for equipment upgrades or repairs.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and researchers within the Center, fostering a collaborative and innovative research environment. Actively participate in scientific discussions, seminars, and workshops.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in molecular biophysics and related fields. Implement new techniques and methodologies to enhance the capabilities of the Molecular Biophysics platform.

Profile

Essential

  • Ph.D. in Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field, or equivalent through experience
  • Molecular Biophysics Expertise: Possess an in-depth understanding of the principles and techniques of molecular biophysics, including the study of protein structure and dynamics, macromolecular interactions, and biomolecular simulations. Proficient in employing various experimental and computational approaches to investigate molecular mechanisms at the atomic level.
  • Research Design and Execution: Skilled in designing and executing experiments to address specific research questions in the field of molecular biophysics. Capable of developing innovative methodologies, protocols, and models to study complex biological systems and analyze experimental data effectively.
  • Instrumentation and Techniques: Familiarity with a wide range of advanced instrumentation and techniques used in molecular biophysics research. Such as fluorescence and IR spectroscopy, light scattering techniques (DLS, SLS, MALS), thermophoresis, biolayer interferometry, surface plasmon resonance, isothermal and differential scanning calorimetry, etc.
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Expert in the analysis and interpretation of datasets. Skilled in employing software packages and programming languages commonly used in molecular biophysics, such as R, Prism and/or Kaleidagraph, to process, fit and visualize data effectively.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English

Desirable but not required

  • Experience in working in a biophysics facility
  • Experience in follow-up of life science research projects
  • Experience in grant writing
