YOUR TASKS

 

  • At least 65% of your assignment will be spent on academic research in preparation of a doctoral dissertation within the field of pharmaceutical care. Your research will evaluate how medication-counseling for newly prescribed drugs can be further optimized, with a special focus on interventions that improve medication adherence and that help patients to cope with side effects of newly prescribed drugs.
  • You will assist in the teaching activities at the department, specifically the courses in pharmaceutical care
  • You will supervise and mentor students at master level during their exercises, work placement and Master’s dissertation.
  • You will assist in the internal and external services of the department

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

  • You are a registered pharmacist, and you hold a degree of Master in Pharmaceutical Care, or In drug development or equivalent. The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
  • For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted.
  • You have experience with the provision of pharmaceutical care in the Belgian context.
  • You are interested in academic and project-based research in pharmacotherapy and pharmaceutical care. Publications or a master thesis on pharmaceutical care, personalized medicine, clinical pharmacy or rational drug use will be considered an advantage.
  • You have knowledge and a pronounced interest in the evolving role of the pharmacist in primary health care (in the Belgian as well as the international context).
  • You are able to translate scientific research into the professional practice of the pharmacist (both local and international) and to the training of future pharmacists.
  • You have an independent, problem-solving, organized and result-oriented attitude.
  • You have the necessary social skills, flexibility and critical thinking to function in a multidisciplinary academic environment.
  • You have excellent teaching and communication skills.
  • You are prepared to combine this 80% position with other professional activities as a pharmacist. These activities should contribute to the quality of both the applied scientific research and the practice-oriented teaching assignments of the Pharmaceutical Care Unit.
  • Any experience with data analysis and with evidence-based community pharmacy practice is recommended.
  • Any teaching experience or participation in extra training, conferences, etc. is recommended

  • We offer you a two-year appointment, which may be renewed twice for two years, on condition that the previous term was given a positive evaluation. Attention : If you have been previously appointed as a junior assistant or doctoral fellow at a university within the Flemish Community, this appointment will be deducted from the maximum term of appointment, which is six years at the most according to the Codex of Higher Education
  • Your appointment will start on 1 July 2024 at the earliest
