The Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science comprises 15 groups that conduct internationally leading research. The Centre assembles an international, ambitious and committed team and offers an interdisciplinary scientific environment, cutting-edge laboratories, and a creative working atmosphere.
The Department of Microbiology and Ecosystem Science has a research focus on microbial ecology and evolution. Within this framework, we are searching for a University Assistant (post doc) in the fields of microbial community dynamics and interactions. Strong background in microbial genetics or computational biology or ideally both is required to complement the department’s research efforts.
The contract is limited to 6 years.
The candidate will contribute to the research goals of the department as an independently working postdoctoral researcher with particular emphasis on microbial interactions and microbiome research. The department has a long-standing tradition in investigating environmental and host-associated microbiomes. The candidate is expected to develop and apply innovative computational and/or genetics methods to study the ecology and evolution of complex microbial communities.
The candidate is expected to actively participate in research, teaching, and administration. This includes involvement in research projects/research studies, international publications, and presentations at seminars, workshops and conferences. The supervision of students and teaching as regulated by the collective agreement is expected. Procurement of own funding is highly encouraged from sources within Austria and the European Union.
