University Assistant (must hold a Doctorate/Ph.D. degree) for a full-time, six-year position at the LIT Artificial Intelligence Lab

Job Duties:

  • Independent research and active participation in cooperative research projects of the institute, in particular, in the development, evaluation, and practical application of machine learning methods (especially deep learning) with applications in bioinformatics, medicine, pharmaceutics, or autonomous driving)
  • Publication of scientific results in renowned international journals and conferences
  • Supervision of students in seminars and projects; co-supervision of bachelor and master theses
  • Participation in teaching of the institute’s courses and administrative tasks

Your Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree and publication record in machine learning methods and/or their applications; several publications at top machine learning conferences, such as NeurIPS, ICML, and ICLR
  • Theory and practice of machine learning, e.g. Deep Learning and neural networks, Reinforcement learning, Signal propagation theory, and Probabilistic modeling
  • Excellent skills in R and/or Python programming
  • Full command of German and English (German level C1, English level B2)
  • Willingness and ability to work in a team and to support young colleagues
