We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 66,532.20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.

  • Completed doctorate/PhD in the field of natural sciences
  • Good floristic and taxonomic knowledge in the field of higher plants
  • Knowledge in the areas of vegetation science, nature conservation, and/or renaturation
  • Existing expertise in the native flora of Styria, or competence to build up this expertise
  • Management of or participation in public scientific exhibitions
  • Good English language skills in both spoken and written form; competent German language skills to conduct public events and carry out German-language teaching
  • Ability to conduct independent research work
  • Didactic ability for independent teaching
  • Intellectual and emotional competence in dealing with employees
  • Qualifications or training as a leader (desirable)
  • Management of or participation in research and third-party funded projects (desirable)
  • Management of or participation in the supervision of botanical gardens (desirable)

Benefits

Eligibility criteria
  • Completing the development agreement with objectives in research, teaching and administration
  • Scientific Management of the Botanical Garden
  • Management of and participation in research projects, with a special focus on higher plants, particularly in the aspects of nature conservation, sustainability, and renaturation
  • Teaching and supervision of scientific work in the fields of botany, nature conservation, sustainability, and/or renaturation
  • Inventory planning and technical supervision of the Botanical Garden's collection, as well as acquisition and scientific evaluation of new additions
  • Designing exhibitions, catalogs, and public relations
  • Participation in organizational and administrative tasks as well as in evaluation measures
