At the Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies, the University of Vienna seeks to appoint a Full Professor of Jewish Studies with a Focus on Source History and Cultural History

The position:

This position deals with research and teaching in all essential aspects of the culture, literature, religion and history of Judaism across its entire geographical breadth. A particular focus of this professorship lies on Jewish texts and Jewish cultural history in the context of the rabbinic period (70 to 1000 AD) which is of central importance. Teaching is mandatory in compulsory modules in the bachelor's, master's and extension curricula in Jewish studies, as well as the supervision of bachelor-, master- and doctoral theses. Participation is also expected in one of the faculty's key research areas and in the Doctoral School of Historical and Cultural Studies or the Doctoral School of Theology and Studies on Religion.
