Offer Description

Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien), Institute of Scientific Computing is seeking an Assistant Pre-Doc position for 30 hours/week for a duration of 4 years. The employment in this position should begin in March 2024. The monthly salary will be paid according to group B1 which is at present EUR 2.684,10 (14 times a year).
Your duties:

  • participation in research activities, teaching and examinations
  • supervising of students (in German and English)
  • research and project work in the area of „Analysis of Partial Differential Equations”
  • deepening scientific knowledge
  • writing a dissertation and publications
  • participation in scientific conferences
  • participation in organization- and administrative tasks

Your profile

  • relevant completed Mathematics studies with Master degree in the field of Mathematics or relevant studies
  • knowledge of scientific work
  • profound knowledge in the research area of “Partial Differential Equations"
  • willingness to participate in the project “SFB F65” – Taming Complexity in Partial Differential Systems in the field of “Large-time behavior of continuous dissipative systems – entropy methods” is expected. A possible theme could be “Large-time behavior of hyperbolic-parabolic systems”.
  • Experience in programming (e.g. b. Matlab)
  • Teaching experience and knowledge in German would be advantageous
  • Excellent knowledge in English
  • interest in research and working with students
  • teamwork and problem-solving and innovation skills
