Salary Package: From $104,726 - $113,545 (HEW Level 7), plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading
Appointment Type: Part-time, Continuing
Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, Dharug land, North Ryde

THE ROLE

Wellbeing Assessment Advisor will provide escalated specialst counselling and assessment support for students with complex wellbeing needs and lead appropriate action or referral to ensure the student is not at risk of harm.

Reporting to the Manager - Wellbeing Assessment, key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Provide psycho-social assessments, care planning and coaching for students presenting to Student Wellbeing with the aim of connecting students to appropriate support effectively and efficiently.

  • Assist with critical incident management, by providing support and care planning for students impacted by critical incidents.

  • Identify, assess, evaluate and report on potential risks in line with professional and University policies including reporting intentions of harm to self/others; and/or those reporting first symptoms of psychosis; and/or matters reported in relation to sexual assault, sexual harassment, or other inappropriate and unwanted behaviours

  • Coordinate referrals of at-risk students escalated to external health providers (e.g. Emergency Services, General Practitioners).

  • Participate in a rotating ‘on-call’ roster as the ‘emergency responder’ for the University in response to after-hours referrals for student support and critical events.

  • Partner with senior clinical staff to facilitate, implement and evaluate an evidence-based service delivery model including support the development of appropriate resources and relationships across the University.

  • Act as the relationship manager and primary point of contact with third party agencies (e.g. 1800 CARE MQ 24/7 telephone service provider) and support regular evaluation of the service delivery partnership.

  • Provide supervision and training to administrative staff when responding to students with urgent and complex clinical needs.

  • Maintain and record all student contacts conducted on relevant clinical systems. Analyse and report on this data.

Selection Criteria

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Health Services or related discipline.

  • Knowledge of the Australian higher education system.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering support  on sensitive topics such as sexual relationships, respectful relationships, for a broad and culturally diverse audience, including people with disabilities, LGBTIQA+ identifying people, students and staff.

  • Expertise and experience executing student wellbeing projects and programs.

  • Experience providing excellence in wellbeing client/customer services to students 

  • Experience contributing to continuous service improvement and transformation initiatives.

  • Knowledge and understanding of student wellbeing, student safety, equity and inclusion issues in the higher education sector

  • Experience managing, analysing and reporting on data and complex business processes.

  • Strong customer service focus and ability to build and manage partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
