About This Opportunity

UQ Skills Educator operates as an industry leading skills educator within individuals key area(s) of expertise, fulfilling the role of a Trainer and Assessor under the Vocational Education and Training framework. This position is responsible for facilitating teaching, assessment and effective delivery of these Programs and ensures adherence to and implementation of regulatory compliance obligations in Vocational Education.

Key responsibilities include:  

  • With the support of the Education Manager, support and maximise teaching and assessment performance, including student experience and compliance.

  • Lead the maintenance of teaching and assessment resource quality and continuous improvements

  • Coordinate and prepare resources required for assigned delivery of training for assigned programs.

  • Contribute to assessment validation as per the schedule provided by the Education Manager.

  • With the support of the Education Manager, contribute to Trainer and Assessor activities in teaching and assessment pertaining to assigned programs.

  • Prepare and monitor individual learning support plans with guidance from the Education Manager.

  • Advise and support students on course related matters as a first point of contact and triage including grading assessments and providing feedback to students regarding progress.

  • Prepare and/or follow training plans and/or lesson plans for each class.

  • Maintain a minimum teaching load annually as agreed with line manager.

  • Track and maintain student results and records, attendance rates and progress in conjunction with the Program Support Assistant and other relevant internal stakeholders.

  • Assess and mark student work and assignments, providing feedback and managing reassessment as required.

  • Ensure familiarity with courses, units of competency, training packages offered and respective training and lesson plans.

This is a full-time (100%), continuing position.

At HEW level 6, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $86,371.95 - $92,658.90, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $101,055.18 - $108,410.91 annually.  As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.

About You

Essential

  • Industry qualification(s) within your respective area of expertise at least to level higher than the qualification you train and assess in (or a combination of extensive industry relevant experience and equal qualification to that involved in) with recent and relevant industry and vocational educational training experience.

  • A CIV in Training and Assessment TAE40116 or TAE40110 with updates including TAELLN411 and TAEASS502 is required or higher qualifications in Adult and Vocational Education.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience in  teaching and assessment practices and ability to adapt work to meet objectives

  • Work effectively with only general direction from management to achieve objectives on teaching and assessment practices.

  • Highly developed skills in Training and Assessment and proven experience teaching Agriculture/Rural programs under the AHC training package.

  • Experience working as part of a team and leading and mentoring others in teaching and assessment.
