Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Technical Officer Hydraulic Systems to join Facilities Management, Administrative Division.

The Technical Officer (Plumbing) is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance in the plumbing trades area, and will also supervise external plumbing contracting staff to achieve specified project outcomes. The position interacts with a wide range of customers across QUT, with suppliers of goods and services and with external plumbing contractors.

The Facilities Management Department within the Division of Administrative Services is responsible for managing the process of design, construction, maintenance and operation of the physical facilities, and the provision of a range of support services across the University's two main campuses at Gardens Point, Kelvin Grove and a range of smaller offsite facilities..

What you need to succeed

  • Evidence of a Queensland Plumbing Trade qualification with a minimum of five (5) years’ post trade experience, with Backflow and TMV endorsements (or a willingness to obtain the endorsements). 
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant plumbing regulations, codes of practice, standards and statutory requirements.
  • Capability to meet the physical and technical requirements of the position, including climbing ladders, working at heights and manual handling as well as experience with workload management systems. 
  • Developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships and collaborate with colleagues, clients, contractors and suppliers
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Queensland Workplace Health and Safety legislation together with experience in its application in the workplace.
  • Possession of a current Queensland driver’s licence and be willing to obtain EWP, forklift and scaffold licences and work in confined spaces.
