Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Level A – Associate Lecturer to join the Faculty of Engineering, Academic Division.

The Teaching Intensive Employment Arrangement (TIEA) provides a pathway for sessional academics within the Faculty to apply for ongoing employment. If successful, the staff member will be employed as an ongoing Associate Lecturer (Level A, Step 6) and will be appointed at a 0.5 full-time equivalent (FTE) fraction or their average fraction over the last 4 semesters, whichever is the higher. Any increase in this employment fraction, either temporarily or permanently is subject to approval by the Head of School and agreement by the staff member. A TIEA will have a teaching intensive workload allocation of 90% with the remaining 10% for leadership and engagement / training and development. A TIEA staff member is eligible to apply for promotion.

What you need to succeed

1.    Experienced teaching academics who hold a PhD (or equivalent) and can demonstrate positive student outcomes (including in large units).
2.    Teaching experience in one of the following subject areas:

  • School of Architecture and Built Environment

o    Interior design 

o    Architecture 

o    Built Environment 


  • Teaching in general engineering units
  • Area of Artificial Intelligence and controls.

3.    Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

4.    Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and as a member of a teaching team.

Remuneration: $111,148 pa (full-time equivalent) (Inclusive of $93,921 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)

Open to: To be eligible to apply for a TIEA role a person must:

(a) be currently employed (with a contract for Semester 1 or Semester 2 in 2023) in the Faculty of Engineering as a sessional staff member; and

(b) worked in the Faculty of Engineering (in any capacity e.g. sessional or fixed term) in at least 3 semesters in the last 4 years.
