The La Trobe University Innovation and Entrepreneurship team sits within the Industry Engagement portfolio and has a mission to enhance the student and alumni experience as well as contribute to the entrepreneurial ecosystem through employability and upskilling. This is achieved through programs that develop an entrepreneurial mindset, build startups, and foster an entrepreneurial community.
The Student Entrepreneurship Engagement Coordinator supports the Director, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and the Program Manager, Student Entrepreneurship in engaging with internal stakeholders and students to support seminars, workshops, events and student engagement for the successful development and delivery of the student entrepreneurship program across multiple sites. The Student Entrepreneurship Engagement Officer works within a small team that is accountable to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Industry Engagement) and actively promotes a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across all La Trobe Campuses including its regional communities. Key activities will include student engagement, stakeholder management, events and supporting program planning and implementation.

The Student Entrepreneurship Engagement Coordinator will be required to be autonomous at times, able to actively contribute to a small and dynamic team and professionally represent and communicate with a variety of stakeholders. The Student Entrepreneurship Engagement Officer will contribute to a positive team culture that embraces continuous improvement and is in line with the LTU cultural values. After hours work may be required on occasion to support some events.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have

  • Completion of a degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated ability to gain a conceptual understanding of relevant policies, procedures or systems and interpretation in the application of policy and/or precedent.
  • Demonstrated capacity to organise work effectively and efficiently and deliver outputs in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, follow established procedures with limited supervision and contribute positively to an effective team.
  • High level proficiency in computer software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, electronic mail, and the use of the internet as a research tool.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated customer service focus and solution orientated approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to effectively collate research and present data and options in a range of formats.  
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering an events schedule and an understanding of the elements of end-to-end event creation and implementation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in writing for events and engagements.
  • Demonstrated experience liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
