• Salary Package: from $133,989 to $141,514 per annum (HEW Level 9), plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading
• Appointment Type: full-time, 12-months fixed-term

THE ROLE

Australian Astronomical Optics - Macquarie (AAO-MQ) is seeking an experienced Strategic Transformation Lead to help shape the future of the AAO-MQ. They will lead a variety of important strategic initiatives and work collaboratively across the business for successful implementation. This role will represent the Faculty Executive and work to deliver desired outcomes.

Reporting to the Faculty Executive Director, you will:

  • Lead the planning and execution of various strategic streams of work identified as part of the 5-year AAO-MQ review.

  • Provide specialist knowledge, advice and expertise to AAO-MQ and to Faculty Leadership to ensure strategic alignment, coordination, and achievement of agreed outcomes.

  • Facilitate and lead the high-level work around AAO-MQ’s purpose, mission, vision and values.

  • Work with AAO-MQ and the faculty around transformative culture, identity and positioning, and develop governance to support this.

  • Work collaboratively to enable existing BAU program/project delivery, whilst proactively managing stakeholder engagement and progressing the change management agenda.

  • Perform business analysis, utilise data and reports, and inform pathways to strategic and operational transformation and innovation.

  • Help create a culture which drives and encourages high performance, collaboration, agility and accountability in the delivery of outcomes.

About You

You are an experienced and passionate Strategic Transformation Lead with a proven track record of implementing initiatives to improve organisational performance. You are able to effectively work in a matrix organisation with a variety of diverse stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.

You understand the importance and role of organisational culture and have experience shaping this in a complex organisation and improving employee engagement. As a Strategic Transformation Lead, you have excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to communicate your solutions clearly to stakeholders. You understand change management methodology and can implement this in your work to increase the adoption of various initiatives.

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Post-Graduate Qualifications (or equivalent) in Business Transformation, Strategy, or a relevant discipline.

  • Proven track record of leading business transformation work for a complex organisation that resulted in tangible changes in performance and culture. 

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex issues, formulate solutions, communicate key finding to stakeholders and exercise sound judgement.

  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to skilfully influence, negotiate and motivate people to develop effective working relationships.

  • Experience creating and implementing a new organisational purpose, mission, vision, and/or values with high levels of employee engagement.

  • Sound understanding of change management methodology.

Desirable

  • Understanding of complex engineering environments.

  • Experience working in a Tertiary Education organisation and an understanding of the operating environment.

  • Proven experience on the use of analytics, reporting and/or data to inform strategic pathways.
